Entertaiment: Article Of The Day

Entertaining is the act of occupying or diverting the mind and body for enjoyment. Activities such as watching movies or television, playing games, participating in sports, and reading for pleasure are forms of entertainment. Entertainment can also include a wide variety of other things such as religious ceremonies, parties, non secular pageants and satire.

Entertainment is derived from the old French word entretenir which means hold together or support. It originally meant to keep guests occupied and happy, but has since come to refer to any form of distraction or amusement. A clown at a birthday party, a Broadway show or stadium rock concert, even your friends fighting over the last potato chip are all forms of entertainment. The man whose job it is to amuse people at shows is called an entertainer.
