The term “entertainment” is so broad and pervasive that it has become nearly impossible to define. It has come to be strongly associated with leisure, and one not uncommon interpretation of the idea is fun and laughter, even though many entertainments have a serious purpose: they may be means of attaining perception or highbrow growth, for instance. Nevertheless, the familiar forms of entertainment have demonstrated an amazing capacity to cross over and adapt to different media.
