The word entertainment is derived from the Latin inter tenere, or to hold inside, using the prefix inter and the suffix tenere. This means that entertainment can be experienced in any context and can be adapted for any scale, from an individual selecting their private entertainment from a vast array of media available to them; to banquets or celebrations for thousands; and to the creation of satire for global audiences.
